Is 400 square feet per gallon realistic?
On smooth, non-porous substrates like TPO, EPDM and coated metal, yes. Porous concrete and heavily weathered surfaces drink more; plan 250 to 300 and confirm on your first section. We quote coverage honestly because primer shortfalls get discovered at the worst possible time.
Does it really go over aged silicone?
Chalked silicone is the industry adhesion nightmare, and it is the marquee use case for the 7001 class. Clean thoroughly, prime, run a 24-hour test patch, then coat. We will not skip the patch step and neither should you.
Why single-component instead of epoxy primer?
Speed and waste. No mixing, no pot life, no discarded half-batches, and a resealed pail keeps for the next job. Two-part epoxy primers still have niches, and we will tell you when yours is one, but the 7001 covers the overwhelming majority of restoration work.
How long can primed substrate wait for topcoat?
Up to 24 hours without repriming in normal conditions. Past that window, a quick re-prime pass restores tack; details are in the TDS.
Can I spray it?
Yes, standard airless equipment handles it well, and roller or brush work fine for details and small roofs. Tip and pressure recommendations are printed in the application guide.
Do distributors carry WatchGuard Primer?
The distributor network is growing, and primer is the easiest line to stock: one SKU family, universal application, steady reorder. Supply houses interested in carrying it should mention distribution in the contact form for terms.
